Preschool Speech & Drama Programme 2022 by The Actors Studio Academy @ klpac

What is it?
The semester-based, year-long programme introduces students to the magic of storytelling, exercising the imagination, performing for an audience in a group and by themselves, and aims to nurture every students’ sense of self, relations to one another and the world, and the expressions of the two through Speech & Drama.

“When I read great literature, great drama, speeches, or sermons, I feel that the human mind has not achieved anything greater than the ability to share feelings and thoughts through language.”  – James Earl Jones

How does it work?
The preschool Speech & Drama @ TAS Academy programme is catered for students 3 – 6 years of age, with three semesters in a year. Our teachers and students will explore the evocative language and performance of poetry, dialogue and scenes, song and music, creative use of the body, even creating their own sketches and plays. Theatre games to build relationships between classmates, to encourage group play, self-confidence, and awareness, is a fundamental pillar to our approach. We strive to create an environment that nourishes and encourages our students’ innate creative potentials.

“Like art, revolutions come from combining what exists into what has never existed before.” – Gloria Steinem

Speech & Drama Programme 2022 by The Actors Studio Academy @klpac

What is it?
A child’s greatest form of art is their ability to express themselves. Here at TAS Academy, our wholesome multi-level curriculum is uniquely catered to allow students to engage, challenge, and spark their creativity. We strive for our young minds to gain invaluable experience by encouraging them to practice early adaptive skills such as leadership, communication skills, and the ability to work well in a group.

“When I read great literature, great drama, speeches, or sermons, I feel that the human mind has not achieved anything greater than the ability to share feelings and thoughts through language.” – James Earl Jones

What makes our curriculum unique?

Multi-level groups, also known as mixed levels (new and returning students) are combined together in a class. Students are often hampered by a fixed and stagnant learning environment. This creates a sense of rigidity, restricting them from being free and fluid. We believe that students learn and grow at their unique pace, hence providing more advantages to a more flexible, multi-level group model.

By conceptualising a curriculum approach that honours continuous growth and development, students engage with teachers and friends for as long as they continue to stay with us. This removes the barrier of a rigid level of teaching and learning. Additionally, our returning students will develop a sense of leadership by mentoring and assisting new students in activities and conducting our showcase. They will be given the opportunity to take on an artistic role such as directing and script writing, allowing returning students to experiment with their knowledge while instilling a sense of mastery based on what they have learned.

How does it work?
Speech & Drama @ TAS Academy is catered for students 7 – 18 years of age, with three semesters in a year. Our teachers and students will explore the evocative language and performance of poetry, dialogue and scenes, monologues and solos, song and music, movement and dance, creating their own work and appreciating the classics. Theatre games to build relationships between classmates, to encourage group play and self-confidence and awareness, is a fundamental pillar to our approach. We strive to create an environment that nourishes and encourages our innate creative potentials.

What about returning students?

A great way to explore what you have studied and learned is to be ready to experience real-world practice. This empowers young minds to put everything they have learned into action. Here at The Actors Studio Academy, a student-centered approach is conceptualized. In such settings, students of different levels can experiment with a theme-based learning environment. It enables young artists to carefully design their own knowledge and abilities. This paves the way for a proactive approach to teaching and learning that is collaborative in nature.

We strive for our young minds to gain invaluable experience. We encourage them to start young with an early adoption of skills and talents. Our unique Speech and Drama Programme cultivates growth by expanding their talents into good use. They are given the platform to exercise their talents by applying what they have learned.
