COYOTES: A New Play
Notice to viewers
I decline the title of Iron Cook and accept the lesser title of Zinc Saucier, which I just made up. Uhh… also, comes with double prize money. Leela's gonna kill me. Switzerland is small and neutral! We are more like Germany, ambitious and misunderstood!
Leela, Bender, we're going grave robbing. Calculon is gonna kill us and it's all everybody else's fault! And I'd do it again! And perhaps a third time! But that would be it. Leela, are you alright? You got wanged on the head.
After two sold-out Emerging Directors Lab (EDL) showcases, Theatresauce presents a new play exploring the blurry line between truth and lies, written and directed by EDL alum Alex Chua.
“They just disappeared. Poof! And they were gone, taken away. All that’s left is us… and the Coyotes.”
Two overprotected siblings grow up believing that everyone is dead and there’s nothing outside their house but man-eating coyotes. But when a stranger arrives at their door, their world is turned upside down. Torn between two strikingly different versions of reality, which world will the siblings now choose?
COYOTES explores what happens when young people are indoctrinated, the blurry lines of subjective truth, and the lies we tell ourselves to survive. This project is first of two Mainstages of Theatresauce’s 2022 season. Presented in collaboration with klpac.
Content warning: COYOTES contains strong language as well as suggestions and depictions of physical violence. For mature audiences only.
Discounted rates available for university/college bulk purchases. Please email Shevone Seow at [email protected] for more information.
